A lot of your are brimming with curiosity and wondering "What is this Crafted Appliqué method?" While I won't be revealing the secret here, I will tell you that it is a brand new way to machine sew raw edge appliqués. If you like the idea of amazing, fray-free, washable appliqués that can be sewn with a simple straight stitch, you will love this book!

Two Upcoming Giveaways!
Last week, here on BuzzinBumble, I showed you the "Hello Mr. Ranger, Sir!" Pic-a-nic Bag from my book. I also showed you a photo of a Daisy Hot Pad that you could enlarge for an extreme close up glimpse of the fray-free raw edges you can achieve when using the "Crafted Appliqué" method. There's a fun giveaway for "Vintage Picnic" Jolly Bars running on that post too, which ends on June 4th.
This week, on Tuesday, May 10th, be sure to come for a visit because I'll be sharing a fun and FREE appliqué pattern and tutorial on Sew Mama Sew. I'm pairing the free pattern with two more great giveaways here on BuzzinBumble: a gorgeous fat eighth bundle of Allison Glass fabric and a copy of "Crafted Appliqué: New Possibilities"!

Cecropia Utopia
It's time for a glimpse at another of the seven projects that you can find in "Crafted Appliqué". This one is a pillow, featuring an appliqué pattern of a Cecropia moth. Do you love butterflies and moths? I sure do! We've always been organic gardeners and have planted our gardens to attract wildlife, which is a fun way to get to see so many birds and animals, right in your own yard. Only once have I seen a wild Cecropia moth, but it left a forever impression on me. The Cecropia moth is so lovely and it is a very large (up to 6") member of the silk moth family. If you would like to learn more about this moth, check out Prairie Haven's Natural Habitat Restoration website.

Errata Sheet
My book did not escape the need to have an errata sheet, for which I apologize and hope you will understand and forgive. Mistakes unfortunately happen in the publishing process. I have created a page to address these errors and you can find it on the top right hand side of BuzzinBumble's page labels.

One Monthly Goal
Heidi, at Red Letter Quilts, has a great new linky party at the beginning and end of every month. She lines up some terrific prizes for participants to earn a chance to win! All you need to do is link up your One Monthly Goal at the beginning of the month and then return at the end of the month to link up your Finish!
This month, my goal is to complete my quilt for Sarah's, Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge. Since many quilts for Happy Chemo are a bit on the feminine side, I thought I'd do a quilt with masculine appeal too. I had always wanted to try a jelly roll race quilt, but my quilt stalled after the first few laps of the race. No worries, after a pit stop to pick up a nice, wide brown border, it will be ready for the quilting lap.

Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge
I really want you all to take the time to look at this BIG PROJECT that Sarah just completed! She made this astonishing array of quilts that will simply knock the socks right off of you and she did it all in loving memory of her doctor Eric Raefsky. She donated all of these quilts to The Infusion Center where people go for chemo treatments. You can't help but love Sarah - She is a woman who "Walks the Walk"!

Wandering Camera
Soma, of Whims and Fancies, started Wandering Camera as a way for us all to share tips and ideas and experiment with photography. In the process, we all find our skills growing and our view of the world around us changing. I find that I'm looking at everything now with new eyes. :)
Spring was slow to arrive this year, but I still found beauty in our garden, just as it was beginning to wake up from its long winter's nap.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
...and speaking of waking up from naps, I just have to share what our 3 1/2 month old granddaughter Eden has been up to lately. Our daughter Kait took these with her cell phone, because...
This little darling:
Has discovered her voice:
Right now we find it pretty funny. Ask me again in a month, LOL.

Giveaway Winners Announced!

Both Heidi and Val created blog hop buttons for their blog's sidebars, which was such a sweet take-it-one-step-further thing to have done. Thank you both! Just in case any of you would like to have a Crafted Appliqué Button too, Heidi sent me the HTML code for hers, as a button you can grab. She prefaced the button with these words, which made me laugh:
THIS NEW BOOK IS ALL-THE-BUZZ!
FOLLOW THE HOP THROUGH JUNE 6TH!
Usually, I make it a goal to reply to and reciprocate all comments. I really love it when you take the time to stop and chat. Last week you all left such amazing comments and it really swelled my heart with joy - thank you everyone! This month, with the Blog Hop and multiple giveaways in progress, I hope you will understand that I'm not always able to keep up.
Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there!

ReplyDeleteThe moth is one of my favorite projects in the books. It is stunning. Your camera work is also wonderful - especially that succulent on the newsprint background.
That would be a typo.... "EVERY single syllable OF"! Sheesh....give my fingers a typing vacation and I loose it all. LOL
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Eden is just too cute for words! Secondly, your photographs are beautiful. Third... I'm looking forward to seeing all of the fun quilters in your book hop come up with for us! How exciting. And last... your jelly roll race quilt looks wonderful. So much better than the one I made. Great quilt for a boy. Happy Belated Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI really like your Jelly Roll Race. The little in-between squares give it the pizazz that most of them lack!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely collection of photos. Eden is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteVery thoughtful of you to make a quilt with masculine appeal. Brown border would be great with that quilt. Little Eden’s smiling face is adorable! She has to much to say, if only grown-ups could understand her! The spring photos are gorgeous, Lara!! I feel like I could almost reach in and touch them! The fourth one is my favourite. Thank you so much for linking up on Wandering Camera :)
